Don’t miss Farm Day this Saturday, October 4!
The 2014 Harvest Celebration is co‐ sponsored by the North Olympic Land Trust and WSU Clallam County Extension. This year’s participating farms include Lazy J Tree Farm, Freedom Farm, Jardin du Soleil, Lurkalee Gaare, Annie’s Flower Farm, Dungeness Valley Creamery, and Nash’s Organic Produce. The Five Acre School is also on the Tour. $10 per carload gets you into all the locations from 10am-4pm, for farm tours, kid’s activities, music, food and fun! Ongoing activities at Nash’s include pumpkin sculptures, veggie block printing, and a community mural for kids.
Our schedule—
10:30 am: Music with the Sweet Evangelines
11:30 pm: Cooking Demo with chef Ankur Shah
11 am—4 pm: Farm-fresh lunch catered by Oven Spoonful, with ingredients from Nash’s Farm, including biscuits with sausage gravy, gluten-free veggie quiche, pumpkin-walnut scones, smoked salmon chowder, triticale veggie salad, pulled pork sandwiches with apple mustard, vegetarian paella, apple crisp, chocolate chip cookies.
1:00 pm: Dr. Laura Lewis talks about climate change and how it affects local agriculture.
1:30 pm: Music with The Young Fiddlers
2:00 pm: Demonstration of deburring carrot seed
6:00 pm: Community Potluck. Bring a dish to share with your friends and neighbors! Enjoy the “beyond bluegrass” music of FarmStrong.
7:30 pm: Foot-stompin’ Barn Dance with the high-energy Seattle band Spoonshine!
This year North Olympic Land Trust will be offering local beer and wine for sale at the Potluck and Barn Dance. Proceeds will go for farmland conservation through the Land Trust. Please do not bring any outside alcohol to the events.
